The 27th National Model United Nations Session will be held at Handong World University

The United Nations Association of the Republic of Korea will host the 27th National Model United Nations Conference from July 12 to 15 at Handong Global University in Pohang, North Gyeongsang. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is sponsoring the conference.

About 250 students from 36 universities across the country will participate in the event.

Participants will play the role of representatives of UN Member States during the session to discuss important issues related to the international community, from the perspective of the students.

Three themes have been selected for the 27th conference: strengthening the role of the United Nations in the resolution of international conflicts, financing the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development in the post-Covid-19 era, and the international response and the prevention of terrorism and violent extremism.

Former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will give a special lecture for the opening of the session of the fictitious UN Assembly.

The grand prize winners for each of the three themes will have the chance to attend a real UN conference.

The Model United Nations Assembly began in 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
