What sportsbooks will work in Kansas?

Kansans will have the option of mobile or retail (in-person) sports betting in the state. A full list hasn’t been made available yet, but here are some of the operators we can expect to see.

Mobile sports betting

FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook have become the first two operators to offer pre-launch bonuses, indicating they will be live in Kansas. FanDuel is the biggest operator in the country with DraftKings not far behind. Two other big books – BetMGM and Cesars Sportsbook – also offer pre-launch bonuses to punters who sign up before September 1.

PointsBet struck a deal in January 2020 to operate with Kansas Crossing Casino (below), but we can expect them to launch a mobile app as well. PointsBet launched with new states like Michigan and Louisiana, and they will launch alongside Ohio in 2023.

BallyBet and bet365 have made a more concerted push into newer states like Ohio and Massachusetts this year, and they’re likely to jump on Kansas as well. Although Kansas itself does not have any professional sports teams to partner with, it expects to be a very active betting market.

In the end, there are 12 spots up for grabs (there are five left), with each of the four Kansas casinos being allowed three “skins” each. Skins refer to online book licenses hosted by a “master license” (in this case, casinos). Partnerships include:

  • Hollywood Casino: Sportsbook Bar Stool, TBA, TBA
  • Kansas Star Casino: BetMGM, FanDuel Sportsbook, TBA
  • Boot Hill Casino & Resort: DraftKings Sportsbook, BallyBet, TBA
  • Kansas Crossing: PointsBet, Caesars Sportsbook, TBA

Retail sports betting

As mentioned, Kansas has four casinos, each hosting a retail sports betting site. Two locations have already secured their retail sportsbooks. The other two have yet to announce one.

Barstool Sportsbook will be located inside Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway while DraftKings Sportsbook will operate inside Boot Hill Casino & Resort. Kansas Star Casino and Kansas Crossing have not announced retail books.

Keep an eye out for operator announcements to fill the other two retail sports and five mobile spots in the coming days.
