EUROPALCO, the largest provider of event and entertainment solutions in Southern Europe, was the global supplier for the United Nations World Ocean Conference held at the iconic Altice Arena stadium in Lisbon.
The 5-day event, hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Portugal, brought together over 7,000 participants and brought together 25 Heads of State and Government and around 100 Ministers, making it the most important in the history of the Ocean Conferences.
EUROPALCO dedicated a team of 141 people (120 technicians, five project managers, eight purchasing managers and eight logistics operators) to the event, offering a unique and complete solution.
The Portuguese company was responsible for setting up the stages, providing all the furniture and all the technology necessary for an event of such characteristics. Also oversaw sound and lighting, screens, video and live transmissions, as well as teleprompter tools, simultaneous translation and real-time captioning. Additionally, he assembled the truss structures, supplied the motors, and created quiet rooms with soundproof curtains.
For the World Ocean Conference, EUROPALCO used Ross Video’s state-of-the-art hyperconverged technology solutions, such as the Ultrix FR5 signal processing and routing platform; Ultrix Carbonite production platform; and Carbonite Ultra production mixer. Additionally, Ross Robotics Furio Heads cameras captured the event, delivering super dynamic moving images.
The challenge that EUROPALCO faced was to ensure that the microphones, simultaneous translation receivers and all connections worked perfectly in the 198 delegations spread over 3 different rooms, given the high flow of people in the space. A series of equipment tests ensured the accuracy of all equipment and resulted in a successful event with a quality much appreciated by the United Nations.
“As a company committed to sustainable development, the idea of collaborating with the generation of an event that seeks to have a positive impact on the fate of nature fills us with satisfaction. And the fact that it took place in Portugal shows that the most important events in Europe are increasingly choosing our country as their main venue,” said Pedro Magalhães, Founder and CEO of EUROPALCO.
