US President Joe Biden has called Pakistan one of the most dangerous countries in the world because it has nuclear weapons but no cohesionreports Dawn.

The US President made the remarks while addressing a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reception amid the evolving geopolitical situation globally on Thursday (October 13th).

A transcript of the address, posted on the White House website, quoted Biden saying, “…And what I think is possibly one of the most dangerous nations in the world: Pakistan. Nuclear weapons without no cohesion.”

He said the world is changing rapidly and countries are rethinking their alliances. “And the truth is – I sincerely believe this – the world is looking up to us. It’s no joke. Even our enemies are looking up to us to figure out how we figure this out, what we do.”

There was a lot at stake, Biden said, pointing out that the United States had the ability to lead the world to a place it had never been before.

“Did any of you ever think that you would have a Russian leader, since the Cuban Missile Crisis, threatening to use tactical nuclear weapons that could only kill three, four thousand people and limit to making a point?

“Has anyone thought that we would be in a situation where China is trying to understand its role vis-à-vis Russia, vis-à-vis India and vis-à-vis Pakistan?”

Speaking of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, the US president called him a man who knew what he wanted but had a “huge” range of issues.

“How do we handle this? How do we handle this compared to what’s going on in Russia? And what I think is possibly one of the most dangerous nations in the world: Pakistan. Nuclear weapons without any cohesion,” Biden said.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, under whose administration Pakistan became an atomic power, also weighed in on the issue, saying Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state, fully capable of protecting its national interests while respecting the law. and international practices.

“Our nuclear program is in no way a threat to any country,” he said on Twitter. “Like all independent states, Pakistan reserves the right to protect its autonomy, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

PTI leader and former prime minister Imran Khan said he had two questions regarding the US president’s statement. “On what information did Biden come to this unwarranted conclusion about our nuclear capability when, having been prime minister, I know we have one of the most secure nuclear command and control systems?

“Unlike the United States which has been involved in wars across the world, when did Pakistan show aggression, especially after nuclearization,” he asked.

The ex-prime minister claimed Biden’s statement showed “the imported government’s utter foreign policy failure and its claims of a reset of relations with the United States.”
